Hey guys!

Happy December 1!  Hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving.  Mine was quiet but I really enjoy this holiday because of that.  We just had two people over and ate and drank too much.   I put up our Charlie Brown Christmas tree yesterday and need to get the wreath up outside.  I did absolutely no shopping this weekend.  The constant flow of junk emails and commercials make me boycott black Friday.  Also, I don't have a lot of people to buy for so that helps.

Can't believe it has been this long since we have been without nicodemon, but it still feels great.  Hoping to keep our thread going a bit.  Have not heard from Gloria or Lori in a while.  Time flies when you are not counting the hours and minutes since your last cigarette I suppose.  Hope you all enjoyed your holiday and hope to hear from you soon!  :)

Hey girl! So glad to hear about your Thanksgiving. It sounds very nice even though it was low key. We all went to Cracker Barrel for thanksgiving lunch. My mom says she doesn’t want to cook anymore. Lol. It turns out that she enjoys having a relaxing morning and watching the parade. We ended up having just as much food for dinner that she picked up already cooked. I guess at 84 she’s entitled to do whatever she wants. We also went to a movie in the afternoon.  We’ve done that for many thanksgivings. It’s a fun thing to look forward to. This year we saw Knives Out.

I too really enjoy not being a slave to the nicdemon! I find myself being a lot more active and doing things in the spur of the moment. For many years I couldn’t do that  I had to plan everything around when I was going to smoke. It’s so ridiculous that I let cigarettes rule my life for so long. I don’t think about them very much yet one day last week I had a rouge thought something like... what if I bought a pack? Yikes! Where did that come from? The thought went as far as... no one would have know. Of course I didnt cave and buy any. Isn’t it interesting that I still have those crazy thoughts? We still have to be on guard!!

Id love to hear what else is going on in yalls lives. Keep in touch!

Hey Molly,

Congratulations on 16 months smoke free! So happy you had a great Thanksgiving. We did too. I would love to see your Charlie Brown Christmas tree. I didn’t get into the Black Friday shopping frenzy either. I happily see Lori has posted again, only Gloria is still missing. Hope she had a great Thanksgiving also and returns again some time to say hi. Back to your celebration though, huge congrats. I hope you had a wonderful day today. Talk again soon. Hugs.

Hey ladies! It’s good to get your post. I had to work 12 hours on Thanksgiving so I missed the big family meal. My family all went to Perkins. My Aunt used to cook a huge meal but she has a heart condition and she just can’t do it anymore so they went out to eat.
Cant believe we are nearing the end of 2019 already. Last year at this time we were still struggling with Nicodemon.

It’s getting harder for me to be around people when they are smoking. I didn’t want to be the a**hole ex smoker but it seems that my tolerance for smoke has just about hit zero. It really makes me wonder how I managed to abuse my body like that for 39 years.
We went on our cruise to the Bahamas last month and had about a six hour drive from here to Charleston. I told one of my buddies riding with me that he could smoke in the car as long as the window was rolled down a little bit but I ended up rolling my window all the way down while he was smoking because it really got to me. It certainly doesn’t make me want to smoke one anymore so I guess that is a good thing.

And about the cruise...this was the first cruise I have been on as a non smoker. It was so nice not to throw on clothes and a hat as soon as I woke up to go up to the smoking area. It amazes me that there aren’t any cravings at all now especially considering how bad the cravings seemed at first. Smoking just seems so foreign now and I am thankful that it does.

Hope all of you have a wonderful Holiday season.

Hey Lori,

It’s great to see your message here. I’m glad you had such a fun Thanksgiving. How did you like the movie? I had a wonderful time spending the day at home with the family. I’m sorry to cut this short but it’s so late and I have to be uptown early. I’ll write more though after I get back. So happy to hear from you. Hugs.

P.S. Sending you a pm.

Hi Lori,

That sounds like a nice relaxing Thanksgiving.  I totally understand your mom not wanting to cook anymore.  We only hosted two people but it is still a lot of work between the cleaning and cooking.  I can't imagine how exhausting that would be at 84!  But I do have time to enjoy the parade because I am on the west coast.  So it ends here around 9am.  I absolutely do not get up at 6am, but enjoy a couple of hours.  How was the movie?  I don't even know what is out at the moment or good to see.

Every once in a while I have a thought that it might be nice to have a cigarette.  Then I think, did I really just think that?  Really?  After all this time?  But it's just a thought and definitely not a craving.  Truth is, I hardly think about them anymore and am super happy about that.

It's been difficult getting to work out because of work, but this month will be a bit slower so I am hoping to drop a few pounds so I can gain back at Christmas time!  LOL  It was nice to hear from you.  Keep in touch!

Thank you Ms. Denim!  You always remember everyone's anniversaries.  How do you do it?  I can barely remember my groups.  LOL

Hey JR,

Sorry you had to work on Thanksgiving.  I did every year for about 5 years and again later on when I worked in restaurants.  My sister and I would come home after work around 8pm and have left over dinner my parents made.  Hope you were able to have some sort of celebration!

Like you, I am finding I have a lower tolerance for smoke now.  In the beginning, I used to enjoy the smell, as if I was missing something.  But it really is pungent.  I often wonder how I could have it done it for so long myself.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time on your cruise.  It is nice being able to go places and do things without worrying about smoking, isn't it?  For me I also remember feeling a bit shameful while people walked by.   I just felt like this creepy little addict standing outside by myself looking around and smoking and trying to be "polite" about it.  LOL  As if there is such a thing?

How is your heart these days?  I would imagine being smoke free for over a year now is helpful.  It was nice to hear from you!  Hope to hear from Gloria soon.

Hey Lori,

Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner. I got home Monday and there were some plumbing issues. Ugh. Been trying to handle that. Had a plumbing issue last year too. Geez. I’m also supposed to leave Friday morning to go on a trip. I hope you’re doing good and that you’re having a great week so far.

I’m happy to hear you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. How was the movie? Was it good?

Huge congrats to you on not caving! That’s awesome. As you said, keep your guard up. You’re doing great! So proud of you. Huge congratulations on 17 months smoke free too! This is such a great achievement. Next month you’ll reach a year and half. Look at you go! So happy for you Lori. I hope you had a terrific day!

     Talk again soon. Hugs.

Good morning all,

Just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  I hope you all were good this year so Santa brings you lots of presents.  I remember being very grateful for staying quit around this time last year.  Was heading towards the 5 month mark and very happy I didn't have to worry about smoking around people at parties.  It really makes life easier.

JR, I just watched a documentary about Linda Rondstadt and Dolly Parton was in it.  I had no idea they collaborated years ago.  I had to rent it off of VUDU movies, but I believe CNN is going to air it soon if you want to check it out.

I will be traveling next week to see family in New England and then will meet up with a friend in New York for a few days.  Just celebrated my 50th birthday and was very happy to do it as a non-smoker.  Still working on the weight issue and figure I will get serious about that in the new year.  No point in worrying about that now although I am still working out and hiking with the dogs when I can.

Hope all is well and hope to hear from you!
