Wow I can’t believe it’s been over five years since I quit! It still was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life but I hardly ever think about it anymore these days, though I still remember it like a fond friend that passed many years ago but I can picture their face still, I am always vigilant about slipping back into old habits, and know that I can never pick up a cigarette ever again or I will be right back where I started! I quit for over a year once and went back to it, and I’m never going through the pain and horrible suffering that I did quitting that fateful day five years ago!

Sometimes we romance what we think was an enjoyable smoke. Just one, it was s good, we think. But that is the addiction creeping in and falsifying the addiction. It was never great - it was a horrible addiction that held its grip on us for years and years. The worst part is that for so many years it was an acceptable addiction, even glamorized in the movies and sexualized by the actors/stars of the day.
When the veil was pulled back we were caught holding the bag of a really ugly, ugly, addiction and it took all our strength to come to the realization that we had to stop. Quitting was tough, never forget. QUITTING was tough. It took days and day, weeks and weeks - months and months to get to years of a smoke free lifestyle.
Let us glamourize our smoke free lifestyle and enjoy our victory. Take it from a one time addict. There is nothing sexier than being smoke free.
