I'd like to start by saying it feels so nice to say to the first person that I think I should thank for helping me to gladly say I just smoked my last joint and cigarette back but super lots alot of things all at once By you and others on this site at this time in my life. I can honestly say I smoked my last cigarette today I've been blessed many times in my life you all right now being the latest. It's different this time. And I knew it would be Please post however .God bless all smokers and try to never stop trying, and you have to really want to quit. The last time recently 30 days I got a good taste of the better way of life and it felt good in ways I have hard time putting to words Mike
I lied about last joint though it's only third gone and it's about the best and there have been a few to well you know. I see it as one of the many blessings. I never had a doubt when I sincerely reached out the Almighty He's always answered
Thanks Jerthie. Day 3 - so far each day is harder but I will continue to push thru. Very tired. The awful cough that was often a choking cough is improving each day .

You are definitely in the right place for maintaining a positive attitude about this quit. This forum is what got me through my first month last month--reading forum posts, asking for help, and then receiving wonderful supportive messages from Jenny, Jerthie, Anne2020, modCindi, et al. This support and encouragement is so crucial to success as you pointed out reading your journal from 2016 which I totally related to because I just hated quitting every time I've tried in the past. And now I am proud and excited to be an ex-smoker. FINALLY!
And you're right that Not One Puff Ever (NOPE) is the thing too. Jenny and I have talked about that in the context of vague temptations seeing another smoker in a parking lot and how in the past maybe we would've broken down and just had one to make the withdrawal less painful but it's just the one that always pulls us back. So much wisdom in these posts and the intro material posted by Cindi and Terri. This quit for me just feels different and I am so optimistic about my future for the first time ever.
Anyway, looking forward to getting to know you better on this most amazing internet forum! I'm also in the midwest (Minnesota) and this time I've viewed our terrible winter as a silver lining to the withdrawals. It's been nice to not be outside crushing my lungs in the subzero temperatures or hotboxing in my truck and smelling like an ashtray. Also it's perfectly fine to hibernate during the winter! You stay chill in your recliner and I'll do the same. Then we can emerge in Spring like beautiful smoke free butterflies!

Good for you Lisa! Look at you on Day 3... Find your momentum and dance to that beat. With each day that passes where you don't smoke, you will feel happy and proud of yourself, and this will propel you forward in quitting. God be with you!

Yes, this is a great place to be for support and the articles etc. My quit 2016 I was active here. Reading my journal from 2016 was a real eye opener regarding the very negative attitude I had then about my quit. I didnt even realize it at the time.
My son just left. We have dinner together on Sundays and he does his laundry here. I told him today was day 4 of not smoking and his response was much better than in 2016. He said nice and asked me what I was doing to help myself to not smoke and was actually interested in my response. He was very negative in 2016 about me quitting. He didnt believe I could do it because I always went back to it. He was 19 then and more mature now for sure.
I have not tried to quit in the winter before. The other seasons yes. I am intentionally hibernating. The cold weather makes my muscles freeze up, so I wont be walking out a craving like in the past. I found a bunch of exercise videos on you tube by a women and her elderly Mother that are right up my alley because of my disabilities. They are intended for beginners and/or the elderly and you can work your way up to the harder ones if you want to. I am not elderly but definitely a beginner.
I hear the winters in Minnesota are tough. In the winter I would smoke in my garage and be cold all the time from it. It is nice to be free from that.

Day 5 - yikes
I have been watching some carpool karaoke videos on you tube to get thru some cravings. Also did the beginner workout I previously mentioned. Can seem to be at peace and sit still much today.
I had this thought last night. I finished watching an episode of a tv show and I thought time to go out and have a smoke in the garage , because that is what I would of done before quitting. I was taken back by this automatic type thought. I know it is the addiction. So I told myself no you are not going in the garage to smoke because you dont smoke anymore.
