How is everything? I’m chugging along over here. Miss my daughter a ton. Thank goodness for WhatsApp video calls! Other than missing here, all is good. That’s a big piece to be missing though….

Hey Lore, I am sure your daughter is missing you terribly as well!  What is your favorite part so life in Portugal so far?  Are you struggling with nostalgia for the holidays or are you looking forward to a the adventure of holidays in a new way?

I would imagine 100 years ago, the letter would arrive about three months after sending it on the boat.  I wonder if they had mail boats?

I read US Post Office started using boats again during COVID.  

Yes, thank goodness for the mail system of today. Even with it’s pitfalls it beats the boat only days. And the ability to video call, well, all I can say is thank god for that. Let’s see, favorite part…I’ve made some friends! I think right now that is my favorite thing. The holiday decorations are really nice too. Overall I think I’m struggling more with the nostalgia of the holidays and feeling homesick for loved ones than I am looking forward to the adventure of them in a new way. Again that comes back to my daughter. The fact that Lisbon has had less sun and more rain than PDX in the past few weeks is a factor too! BUT…I have not smoked. So there you go! Now I’ve forgotten the word for the game, lol
