Dec-11
Rice. I had to look xeriscape up.
It's definitely better since I stopped smoking. 1 year in January. For HS baseball we had to join the cross-country runners club in the winter. So, I always ran, sometimes with a cigarette in my mouth. Stopped when I broke my heel. Started again a few years ago. Certainly not as well. I finished about 1,600th of 1,800 men. Though most participants were younger.
Bags: paper or plastic
Dec-11
Paper, but very few stores offer paper, so we end up with plastic. We do take our own bags to the grocery store.
Good for you for several accomplishments, not smoking, 5k, placing better than 200 other men! You have a lot to celebrate! Did you get the window fixed?
Plants or flowers

Flowers
I left a note for our handyman, and he was able to close the window. He said the spindles were broken. I need to check with the building manager tomorrow on how that gets fixed. The windows are designed to not open more than 6 inches, so people don't place things on the ledge. Makes sense as you don't want things falling but they've always been a pain to open and close.
Trees or bushes

Trees
Christmas tree: colored lights or white lights
Dec-13
Lights first
Ornaments: bulbs or figures (not sure what to call the ones that aren’t bulbs)
Dec-14
Santa… had to look up Krampus. Not sure I got the right thing on Google images but he was kind of creepy Java!
Sugar cookies or Chocolate chip
Dec-14
Chocolate chip. You got the right image, Lore. In Eastern/Central European culture Santa gives the good children, things, and Krampus deals with the bad.
Eggnog or champagne
Dec-15
Oh wow. He is creepy! Funny I’ve never heard of him. Maybe I’ve always been good, hahaha .
Im gonna go with Eggnog. We used to make it ourselves when I was a kid and it was amazing. I’ve not seen or heard of it here now that you mention it. I’ll have to ask my Portuguese friends.
Christmas music: newer or traditional
Oh! But pretty much everywhere I go there are these carts on the sidewalk that billow smoke and smell really good and they are roasting Chestnuts (Castanhas) Maybe I get that instead of Eggnog…. But you have those carts in NYC too, right?
