HI!

Six months is Great! I Congratulate you on an Awesome Achievement.

I want to throw something in here. I don't think that you will have any problems getting off the Chantix. It is not an NRT, so you have not been getting any nicotine for six months.

You are far enough into your quit that you have broken most of your trigger points. I know even at six months you still have to keep your guard up, but you've got this!  Tapering off shouldn't be hard, In fact you might not even notice it.

Even if you quit taking the Chantix right now, it takes about two weeks for all the Chantix to leave your system.

I quit twice using Chantix. The first time was the longest quit I have had in my 48 years of smoking.

Good Luck!

Hi Eve

i weaned mtself off too.  I did it over a month.  Then I was down to half a pill every second day and I just forgot to take it and never noticed a thing.  Good luck.  I’m sure you will be fine

Susan, Nope and Cazza,

Thank you for the words of encouragement! I hope you are right! I know the Chantix is out of my system after 2 weeks, so previously the cravings came back almost immediately, of course I was never on it this long ..... and am empowered by the knowledge of what nicotine does to us from this site!

I am SO GRATEFUL for this site and am armed with knowledge now!

Thanx again

Congratulations!

Way to Go Eve - you are in the 1/2 Way House! Nice Job of NOPING every single day! I still remember the battle and struggles of that first year. Be very very proud of your monumental acheivment as you definitely are no sissy and you are showing that nicotine monster that you are in control not him. Keep using your intellect to outwit those gnawing craves that come out of nowhere. Let all those nicotine re extorts shut down and carry on doing other worthwhile things. You will never ever regret putting cigarettes in the past where they belong. Cigarettes are poisonous and your brain, heart, lungs and body will heal with time. Take note of all the great things quitting has given you. I look forward to reading your 1 year milestone post six months from now. Happy NOPING!

"Quitting isn't for Sissies!" I quit poisoning myself Sept. 27, 2013

My longest current quit(18 months now) has been using Chantix.  I think if you have the right mindset and determination you will be fine!

So I stayed on the 1/2 pill every other day for 6 weeks, why? Because was told it takes 2 weeks for your body to adjust to the dosage, then felt I better stay on it at that dosage because was having cravings again.

Tomorrow I am starting 1/2 pill every other day in morning, opposite of the night pill. May do this for another 6 weeks.

In the past I have been on Chantix, and just stopped it like your supposed to, and went right back to smoking. I definitely DO NOT WANT TO GO THROUGH THIS AGAIN! Nor go back at all.

Will update in 6 weeks!

yes I have been extremely tired again. Is it quit related? Covid? Or other medical issues? I don’t know!

Take your time weaning off it. You are doing so so well Eve!

Are you eating well and not too much sugar? I found sugar zaps me. Maybe more water too? More trips to WaWa?
Do you see doc for check up?
Maybe just change of seasons. I think the body notices the changes in light a lot. Plus you are back at work too. And you get up at a god awful hour! Man you are Noping when we are all sawing logs!
