Yeah i believe that is key to be around like minded individuals, i thought i could hang around people that smoke but i saw that i a am not yet ready. That one individual being my dad i saw him about 3 weeks back and smoked a few with him, didnt enjoy them just wanted to keep him company, but immediately quit the same night and just started from the beginning again, i almost slipped again here with another person i met at bus stop, but i did a quick mental exercise that i would want to stop after i had the cig, it was difficult to say no, it was a mental battle.. Im glad i did, i just cant hang out w smokers yet, it may be a long while.

I have heard of that happening to a lot of people, it takes a few tries to rid of us of this horrible addiction, i just reflect on what it has done to my dad, he is 74 and nicotine has destroyed him, its such a cause of so much suffering. I hope one day as a society we can just outlaw some things, i quit smoking marijuana as well cause i went to a dentist appointment and dentist said my blood pressure was high which is a side effect of marijuana use, they make it seem so innocent.. I was hungry all the time munchies, blood pressure was up, they hide so much from the public.

Im sorry you got covid i hope you are getting the necessary attention for it.

Hi !

Thanks for the note. Do you remember we used to write on board here last time I was here? I'm sorry about your Dad and your health trouble.  I found that very interesting about the Marijuana use. I have never thought about the fact that they are hiding stuff from us but I am not surprised.  Par for the course.

I remember writing on here.

Yeah as far as my dad its just really sad, i mean i see other older people that are in a way different situation, that go walking, watch their diet, i mean i know a 90 year old that does aerobics and swims laps and is in excellent shape, besides that, sooner or later nicotine will take everything from us, even our simple ability to be happy. Taking our happiness away is the worst part of it..

Im not perfect i have relapses so many many times, but i keep wanting to quit cause i know its a trap. you know its a trap from the first one you ever had, simple thing is that it so addictive, and subtle. I believe the same with marijuana its addictive local and state governments need money so they can tax it and make peoples health bad.

Have a nice smoke free day if you can....

I can understand the pull towards smoking, well done for resisting the urge at the bus stop, I am faced with a choice everyday to smoke or not to smoke, thankfully I have been able to resist the temptation up to now, my wife smokes so the cigs are always there in the house, in the next room, I just don't choose to smoke her cigarettes, Their hers not mine, I guess I've just been blessed so far their so close yet so far away.

Kind regards

Anthony

Hi Mercy,

It sounds like you have a lot on your plate, but you've got some really good reasons to quit there.  Wishing you all the very best, and looking forward to making this journey with you. x

Hi Blue,

I'm ok - a bit of a rubbish day, one way and another, but it's midnight here and I'm going to bed.  Didn't smoke, so that's a win.  How are you doing?
