Welcome Meg!

Have you read the articles at the beginning of the March New Ex Smokers folder? They are half way down, linked by a sentence highlighted in blue that say “Homework for New Ex smokers” or something like that. 
 

Stay close to here at first and you’ll not feel so overwhelmed. There is a lot of validation from others going through it, or some ways into/beyond the first few weeks. Having the support of those that “get it” will make a big difference!

Last night was not easy, a lot of ideas why I can or need to smoke disappointed_relieved I came here and found this, in one of the homeworks: 

"She said to visualize the cravings rolling over me in waves and to understand that these cravings are an indication of my body re-adjusting and healing itself."

Resonates with what Loreficent wrote recently and helped me to add one more day to the smoke-free journey. Now I see the craving as not only something that hurts, but also healing me hibiscus

   I am glad to see that you are still quit!

There is much truth to what you quoted above and what Loreficent wrote about visualizations.  If you can get your self to do this every time a craving hits you will have a much easier time beating the craving.  There are many ways that people use to beat cravings early in their quit. This is as good as any I have heard of or tried myself.

You are in a type of mind game.  Your mind is telling you it needs a fix of nicotine.  You know that is just a lie that the nicotine monster is telling you.  You don't need a fix of nicotine.  When you recognize that and deal with it, by denying the request, You win the game! You broke the cycle of addiction. Every time you break the cycle you become a little stronger and the nicotine monster in your brain becomes a little weaker.

You are doing Great! Every night when you go to bed and you didn't smoke that day, You Win!
