Hi Jenny,
Navigating sites is not one of strengths I'm trying to get back to January thread as you call it read the site how to navigate and have little understand and little patience right now I am glad to see your doing well. I am iundated with inundatrd with issues right now. Some of which include a recent biopsy results still being checked for cancer and culture results indicting a need for more IV antibiotics to treat deep neck infection that started four years ago with a spinal infection after an epidural. A recent culture for a fungal infection previously cultured as result of all the previous ABX shows it's still active the fungal infection is resistant to antifungal drugs. More abx will worsen this My infectious disease Dr did not get back to me yet regarding a plan my spine surgeons nurse told me Dr will get back to me today possibilty exists infection is active in the bones of my back. Dr who took biopsy confirmed when I asked. More ABX will worsen fungal infection Taking more fungal medication while taking more heavy abx, to me is not an option because A.) they almost caused a heart attack last time.and B.) they obviously didn't work last time. I am trying not to hide facts from my mother but also do not want to worry her. My Wife appears to be nonchalant enough to causee concern enough. The pains have been increasing steadily for months indicating infection is active in the bones of my back. A hearing is scheduled Feb 7 workers compensation that I have no Attorney to represent me on. The epidural that was given six years ago was treatment for a work related injury. My death is iminent and I know it. Smoking or not unfortunately will have little impact on my survival or length of it at this point under these circumstances.and I'm sorry to say I let the Marlboro man's lassoo grab me I came here hoping to be a success and inspiration to others and have failed by sucombing to the way I have always dealt with stressful situations. There's a lump on the back of my head and neck, it developed with the onset of the spinal infection my spine surgeon says it's an enlarged lymph node. My infectious disease Dr says radiologist says it's a lipoma has been throbbing again causing a considerable amount of pain in my neck.I have pain in every part of my body. I'm not giving up but things are looking pretty hopeless for me. Using pot to lessen pain is a few weeks behind me will continue to be behind me I am grateful I have that achievement because I know I cannot ever completely stop smoking without quitting the weed. Since I do not have the time or patience to try to figure out what thread is to get back to January conversations, would you please inform others that may have sent me questions or words of support , that have not responded because of an overload of issues on my plate. Now I've got a blazing headache too I knew it would happen after pushing these little letter buttons and the bright screen. I was serious when I said I will either permanently quit smoking or die trying. As I said, I have great respect for people that successfully quit permanently and people that never give up trying.I have great empathy for people that never put forth effort to quit because I know how easy it is for nicodemon to manipulate our mind into not thinking there is not a big problem I hope to be back soon but with the myriad of worsening pains I am having and facts about my microbe friends the realistic side of me says I may not. Stay on track be proud your month of a new way of life it is a major accomplishment and by knowing this, let this thought smother nicodemons thoughts. Stay on track you are doing wonderfully. Mike

Mike,
I’m so incredibly sad to hear of all your struggles. I can’t even imagine what you’re going through. I don’t understand how some of those problems work, but it sounds like you don’t have a lot of hope to cling to. I’ll be hoping your doctors find a way to at least decrease your pain. I also hope the cancer results come back negative! A miracle would be top of the wish list.
I think you’ve spread inspiration here, even if you’re back to smoking now. With all you’re going through, you’ve tried. While not making it shows how strong a grip the nicodemon has, the fact you’ve still tried shows how desperately so many people want to free!
If you’re ever up to checking in, I know a lot of us would like to hear how you’re doing, smoking or not.

Hi Jenny,
I month tomorrow - yay !!! Do you have a reward in mind ?Thanks for coming to February and replying to me.
Made it thru day 1 with the help of 7 Nicorette Mini lozenges in a 24 hour period. Day 2 today. So far today is rough. Less coughing so far , which is great. I know it can take time for that to really improve.
For folks that are unable to find the January 2023 group, it is under the heading Quit Buddies Unite.

It is a cold one here today in SW Michigan ! I have lived here all my life and so has most of my family.
Prior to quitting I was coughing before, during , and after smoking a cigarette. My guess is there is some lung damage and hopefully not cancer. I will talk to my medical Dr about it at the next appointment. There is some lung scan specifically for ex smokers but I am not sure how long the quit has to be before the scan.
I grew up around adult smokers from the day I was born. My parents smoked, my Aunts and Uncles smoked and 1 Grandparent. My Mom chained smoked when she was pregnant with me . She told me that Drs didnt know back then that smoking was harmful to a fetus. Really Mom ? She couldnt figure that out on her own?
I am very aware of how anger contributed to my fail last quit. I have been more angry off and on before this quit. I think being in chronic pain and having chronic illness for over 20 years has really worn me down. Dealing with the medical community for so long and frequently is just no fun. I was a Registered Nurse for about twenty years before becoming disabled . It is no fun being on the other side as the chronic patient.
I have a 26 year old son. He is my favorite person in the whole world. He lives less than a mile from my house. He has a hard time being supportive when I try to quit smoking because I have quit so many times in the past. He has not had an addiction (thank goodness!) . I think it is hard for him to relate to such things.

Lisa,
Congats on day 2! Yay!! I didn’t have a lot of coughing to watch get better, but noticed I could breath better within the first week. I hope the coughing keeps going away for you. It’s wonderful to see and feel the body healing, I think.
I see the January thread now, thanks! I think there’s still a place to pledge NOPE, but I don’t know where. If I find it, I’ll let you know.
I was thinking I’d go out to eat with family, but that isn’t going to work out, so I may ask my husband to pick something up from a restaurant on his way home for me to eat. Not the biggest reward, lol, but I’ll enjoy it.
We”re eating out for my daughter’s birthday one night this week, so I suppose I could count that as my 1 month reward meal. It’ll be fondue, so kinda fancy!

Hey there…
Click the drop arrow on the top left under discussions. Set it to all. This should open all of the folders. Scroll down until you see the “Quit Buddies Unite” folder. January thread should be under that.
NOPE was usually posted u dear General Chit Chat. I’ll start one and cc you…
Hope you all are doing ok! Keep on keeping on…. One day at a time does the trick.

Yesterday and today so far challenging for sure. Day 1 was easier. I didnt sleep well last night. Need a nap , but have to wait until after my groceries have been delivered and they have not started shopping yet, must be busy .
Sun is out today and not as cold as yesterday. I think I will just veg in the recliner for a while and write in my journal and have the TV on. I cant sit in silence because of my constant tinnitus and I am in no mood for music.
