Eight people who died suddenly after receiving a messenger RNA (mRNA) COVID-19 vaccine died due to a type of vaccine-induced heart inflammation called myocarditis, South Korean authorities said after reviewing the autopsies.

Myocarditis wasn’t suspected as a clinical diagnosis or cause of death before the autopsies, researchers said.Thirteen other deaths were recorded among those who experienced myocarditis after COVID-19 vaccination but no autopsy results were detailed. Some of those who died had received AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine.

Does the Covid-19 vaccine cause myocarditis (heart inflammation)?

There have been rare cases of myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) following the Moderna and the Pfizer vaccine in the UK, and it has been listed as a very rare side effect. 

Myocarditis has also been listed as a rare possible side effect of the Novavax vaccine, after a very small number of cases were reported during clinical trials.

While reports of myocarditis following any Covid-19 vaccine are rare, cases are more common in young males aged 18 to 29 years following the second dose. Most people who have been affected have experienced a mild illness and recovered without medical treatment. 

Research has found that Covid-19 itself is much more likely to cause myocarditis than the vaccine is, and people who are vaccinated have a much lower risk of getting other serious complications caused by Covid-19."

For instance, in May 2021, there were 205 Covid-19 deaths among the vaccinated population and just 84 among the unvaccinated population. However, fast forward a year, and we find that Covid-19 deaths increased by 450%, with 1,494 among the vaccinated and just 96 among the unvaccinated.

It’s shocking to see that, despite the mass booster campaign in the winter of 2021, the injections did nothing to alleviate the huge number of deaths among the vaccinated population. In fact, the data suggests that the booster campaign actually made things worse.
