1st round to my "round robin". I started out with a bit of grayish green in the string blocks but it looks too much like Christmas so I took it out. I think I want to add just a few strings of the whitish gray to lighten up, some of them are just a little muddy. But I'm close. Planning on doing a row of either 4 patches or hourglasses next. I still have a few nights of applique left to finish the one on the left, a few flower leaves and centers in light beige then the center wheel. It was fun to be on the machine doing something besides t-shirt quilts. I really do enjoy machine piecing.
Those look so pretty, Dee! Are there going to be any more applique blocks?
thanks. No I don't think any more applique. I have enjoyed doing them though. This is supposed to be a "quick" quilt for DD's sofa. ha, we all know how that goes.

oh my gosh ... you had me laughing! A "quick" quilt and you chose needleturn applique???? Dee, you *are* a treasure. LOL!
hey, most of my applique quilts take years. I only started this one a few weeks ago. And see it's almost done. Partly because I'm enjoying it so much it's all I've worked on. But now that Jack's chain quilt is calling me, time to move on. DD already has the red & white Hawaiian applique on her wall, she doesn't need another heirloom quilt.
That is looking really good!
thanks Ami. It's killing me to have to work right now. my sewing room is calling me very loudly.
about a week ago, I loaded my Stash Busting Stars onto my longarm. (The name isn't quite true, unless you have a VERY small stash.) The star blocks are about 15" square, which is bigger than the workspace on my longarm. So, I am doing *half* of the block at a time.
Because I was curious, I timed myself .. how long did it take to SITD one block? This is actually 3 passes around the circumference of the circle inside the block: one pass for each side of the vines & leaves outside the circle and then the perimeter of the circle itself. It takes me 15 minutes. That includes burying all the tails.
Tonight, I did one complete width-of-quilt pass ... edge to edge. That was 3 half-circles and 2 quarter circles for a total of 4 half-circles. Time? 1 hour. I was pretty impressed ... 4 blocks at 15 minutes each = 1 hour. :-)
And I'm half way through the interior SITD.
Gives new meaning to your "Forever" quilt.
Just keep on keeping on and you will get there.
I finally have a plan for the hexi cubes so if it works I will begin the quilting today if I have time. I am working on my biggest ever sewing project....my DBIL is designing a skirt to go all the way around our RV for the Winter. His sewer showed me how to use the industrial machine. Yesterday I made 3 mega huge panels and that is about 1/4 of the around. It included 3 zippers.
