Ditto Lynne's comment.

Beyond amazing to fabulous and jaw-dropping gorgeous.

thanks JO & Denise.  I was thinking as I worked on this, that I'm going to be very particular about this quilt once it's done.  Definitely will be a wall quilt.  I was imagining someone messing up my satin stitching, I'd turn into Godzilla quilter I think.

break from embroidery.  The idea is from a MSQC video on half hexes.  I'm thinking about doing a 2nd one where the "wrenches" interlock or are tesselated.  I drew it out and it will work, but will have to be careful about contrast.

Oh, my, that is very, very cute!

A bunch of wrenches in search of nuts and the white spaces could be considered nuts if you sewed big buttons in their centers  (or appliqued circles ....)

I have Jinny Byer's huge book on how to do tessellations. this one looks pretty interesting!

Started this quilt top on May 15th and I'm finally done with piecing the top. DD will be home on the 29th and will help me mount it on Lily Aurora so I can get busy quilting it. Then it will be on its way to Sacramento as a gift for a friend from my college days.
Does anyone know what it's official name might be? I've been thinking of it as "Barberpole Quilt".  I only know that someone here on the forum found it on Pinterest and posted the photo to share as a pretty example of a string quilt in reds and neutrals but did not offer a source or name for the pattern.
Here's a close-up to show how nice the border fabric looks. This fabric is also going to be used for the backing and the binding.

Judy that really came out nice. Guess you could call it something that has red in the name.
