definitely know what you mean.  as soon as my forever binding is done I'm going to make some I spys.  I counted.60 x 70 = 260" length.  with a loop every half inch = 520 loops x 3 knots for each = 1560 knots.  sigh.  I've got a rhythm down but it's still slow going.  I turned the corner and made it about 15 inches last night before our air conditioning died.  sigh again.  Guess I'm moving my computer into our addition (separate AC) until it's repaired.

Here's an idea I found from a guild friend who also collects novelties. 4.5" & 2.5" squares.   very easy.  You can lay it out a variety of ways, but I liked the zigzag she did here.

thanks Ami.  A couple of ladies in the local guild had something appropriate, so I'm good for butterflies now.

hmm, I took my Christmas quilt to one of my guild meeting s this morning to work on the binding.  Lady sitting next to me said I should have just used ric rack - ok it does look a little like that if you just glance at it.  Then I showed the quilt during show & tell.... silence.  But the lady who got up after me and showed a machine applique paper doll quilt got oohs and ahhs.  hmmmmm.  I'm rethinking this quilt show thing.  bunch of cretins. rage

I am so impressed with the amount of work you are putting into that binding.  It will be spectacular!

Love the idea you posted.  It will go into my Pintrest folders.  I think I made something like it some time ago, but I have more than enough novelties to do another.

Well, shame on them.  Sounds like a bunch that doesn't know great art when they see it.  I never had a desire to belong to a guild because I was afraid they would stick up their noses at what I do.

Dee never second guess your workmanship and your creativity. That lady might have had a following of friends and they may just gush at anything she does.

At a quilt show your quilt is viewed by tons of people and some will rush by your quilt and others will stay awhile and find all the beautiful details........those are your people. I have stood near my quilts thar are in a show and listen to what people say.....not all of it is good but some make you feel validated as a quilt artist.

I know, I was just expecting some reaction.  And we had just finished a program on applique.  Crickets.  The people holding it didn't even look at it.  Honestly I wonder if they thought it was panels, even though I said it was hand appliqued.  From a distance you can't really tell.

Do not rethink the quilt show thing based on the small group you showed your quilt to this morning.

That group did not value the talent and skill that you demonstrated in making your quilt the way that quilt show attendees will value your artistry.

Perhaps they were pea green with envy and you didn't notice.

In Ohio we have a saying ... "dumber than a hoe handle".

Maybe those ladies were a bunch of hoe handles in disguise. stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye
