Does this pattern have a name.  I can see it would use up lots of scraps.  I'm with you on emptying a UFO bin.  My goal is to get mine past the flimsy state.  Of course, while finishing up quilts, I also start some new ones.  It is my nature.........

very nice.  My scraps are actually in color sorted ziplock bags.  feels weird having so few scraps.  I'm sure I'll generate more soon

I've been order wide backing from Connecting threads for several years, specifically one of the whites, to use for piecing.  It has a very nice weight and drape.  It doesn't feel at all like many backings.  But then I recently ordered a couple more to use as borders and noticed something.  The wide backs that are connecting threads brand use a very nice greige, but the two I purchased that were "designer name brand" were not near as nice, more like the rough woven ones from Joann.  I went back and looked at the backing from CT that I liked and yup, they were all Connecting Threads brand.  Interesting that Micheal Miller and windham were using less quality for the base fabric.  CT regularly puts the backing on sale, genereally $13 per yard, which works out to less than $5 per yard of regular fabric, pretty sweet deal.

Will you share a link to which fabric? I see some WOW and some muslin, but don't see a solid.

it is called cobblestone.   https://www.connectingthreads.com/cobblestone-108-in-wide-backing/p/93981

I've also gotten faded chambray several times and I like it but it does ravel more than normal. (made LOTS of t-shirt quilts using that was sashing).   Dappled is very nice as is Tiny Dots & Mosaic dance is very silky.  The ones I got recently that I wasn't pleased with was Word Play and Daydream.

They put their wide backing on sale 25% off about one a month or every other month.  During the Thanksgiving holiday they were having daily sales, at one point it was 30% off and then later everything was 25% off.  You just have to watch their emails.

When ordering, if my theory is correct, look for Connecting threads instead of another manufacturer under the fabric name.
