I'am ready to start a cathedral window by hand.  Advice is needed.

I've done one by hand and the background fabric (not the accent fabric in the "window") takes lots and lots and lots and LOTS of fabric.  If you don't have a pattern already, do some research to get an estimate.  I think my kinda/sorta twin size took 9 yards of muslin for the background.

I've not done one by machine, so I can't offer an opinion on that.

There are TONS of YouTube videos about the Cathedral Window technique.  That is where I would start.

Jonna took the words out of my mouth.

You can spend a lot of hours studying the experts on YouTube when it comes to different quilt techniques. Then you decide which one suits your fancy (or your patience or your budget or your wallet.  LOL)

Doesn't that make for a rather heavy finished quilt?

Yikes!  I didn't remember your Cathedral Windows took THAT much "background".  Whew!!  How large were your circles and the inside highlighted squares?  (Oh...  I guess I can look on your blog.  I'll look it up.)
