Oh Suze, that treatment does not sound fun. The couple times I had to do steroids, I did not do well with the side effects. I hope you can rest as much as possible to let your body heal and keep strength.

That sounds dreadful Suze. I'm sad to hear it's so awful but glad it seems to be working. Still saying prayers for you.

I did some experimenting around with Ami's idea of doing looped bias binding (ala Sharon Schamber) and I'm going to give it a go. I don't think I have enough of the gold fabric but I do have some other batik scraps that I can throw in that I think will look good, bit more scrappy, but since they are so narrow it's more of a color than a pattern anyway. Finding cotton thread for the quilting to match has been a bust, so I'm going with poly. I know not the best but I really do want the quilting to fade into the applique. The quilting should be very easy since I won't be quilting across any seams. I plan to quilt inside the gold, just enough to hold it down, and then do something "all over" in the purple around the outside, - maybe a grid? Planning to start that tonight.

Sounds like you're cooking with those ideas! I do like the way you've been able to pivot when you're first idea didn't pan out.
I've been quilting with trilobal poly thread for a long time now and really like it. I wouldn't piece with it but for the actual quilting, it's wonderful. The problem I eventually had with cotton quilting thread was the **lint**. Holy moley ... talk about dust bunnies! I now have a limited inventory of cotton thread (King Tut) and it's at the bottom of my totem pole, to tell you the truth.
If you want the quilting to be "invisible" use a VERY fine thread in the same (or nearly same) color. All you'll see is the shadow of the quilting indentation.

Carolyn: Hope you are getting things straightened out! But I see that Wichita got snow last night-are you snowy this morning?!! It is suppose to be spring!!
The wind is blowing hard here, high yesterday was 78, high today is going to be 48. Freeze warning tonight, have my tomato and pepper plants covered. Blah day for sure!!

Winter is back! On the frontrange in Longmont Colorado we got about 6" of snow. It sure is pretty. Next Saturday the forecast is in the 70's. DH says this is Spring in Colorado.

If you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes! It is cold here with a freeze warning tonight, wind is blowing while always makes it more unpleasant. I have the kerosene heater fired up in my building, going out to bind several more quilts and get backings ready for the pile cousin Cindy sent me!
