I will put my two cent in.I moved from IL SIXETY YEARS AGO.to IN TO FL for 33 years.Bugs  mild due, traffic. Oh for 5 years tornado's torn our building up.Move to MO 7 years.Tornado again. To AZ 17 years. Vary hot in summer's 118 degree.Have to stay in side. Lot's of traffic.Take and hour to drive 20 miles every morning and evening home from work. Now moving to TN. Where the humidity is high and tornado.So I guess it is what you are looking for.What make you want to move away from your family? I am moving for the last time to TN because that is for my only child live so he can help take care of me.I am not far from 80 year old.

We love the desert and terrain. We want to get out of the snow. We like to stay indoors mostly, but want to be able to enjoy the pool year round etc. We don’t really spend much time with family anyways, but those we do want to spend time with would be more likely to visit us there.  

Judy, our summers are alot drier then Florida and we learn to do things outside first thing in the morning and stay inside during the day.  August is our worse month when it is more humid.  But I've lived here in the valley for over 50 years and like you I have learned to live inside in the summer three months of the year and enjoy my winters, fall and spring here.  But I understand what you mean about staying put in one place.

But when your shoes want to stick to the asphalt in the parking lot ...

And when your glasses fog up when you walk from your condo to your car ...

Never mind.  LOL

it all depends on what you are used to and what you are prepared for.  I'd take the AZ heat over snow and ice any day.  Or over the perpetual rain in the pacific northwest.  But I grew up in the desert.  Now the dust storms, that's another matter.  I still have dirt in my hair from my childhood.  

I agree - and getting acclimated to the area too.

When we bought our home in AZ, we moved in over the holidays (December), and just loved it.  Then summer came and we just hated it.  We put our house on the market that first summer and planned to move back to Colorado.  The house didn’t sell fast enough, fall came, and the weather was pleasant again.  By the next summer our bodies had better acclimated to the heat and we’ve enjoyed it ever since.  We had a pool in that first house and used it all year long.  Now we’re so accustomed to the heat that we walk every morning – even in the summer.  Of course we go out at about 6am but it’s really pleasant at that time of day nearly all year long.

6AM?!?!?!?!   Holy moley, my eyeballs aren't even THINKING about opening, much less being awake, at that time!  :-)

Although, I do understand about having the whole day in front of you to get your stuff done.  :-)

My eyes are open but my body won't be in gear for another two hours so I am sort of in agreement with you, Pirate.

When I started fitness walking in 2013, I would go out at 5 a.m. during the Summer - that's the coolest time of the day.  And don't go thinking I'm an early bird or anything, because as soon as I got home, I would go right back to bed.  Used to work at night, you know.  ha
