Yes, I e-mailed her a few days ago to let her know that we are standing by for word from her when she feels up to having visitors, and the Texas-Oklahoma team will embark on our long-awaited road trip to Kansas whenever she is ready for us. Sounds like she still has a lot of work to do to build up her strength and stamina, but she is working hard to do that. By the way, any others of y'all who are not in Texas or Oklahoma are welcome to join us too. Patty and I started this idea of a road trip a long time ago, with me driving from San Angelo to Patty's house in Tuttle, OK, and then she would drive us the rest of the way to Carolyn's house in KS. Some others indicated they would like to join us. We certainly didn't mean to leave anyone out. Everything has just been so "up in the air" the past 18 months - you know how that goes. But anyone else who wants to join in, we will figure out some way to get everyone there. It totally depends on how Carolyn feels and when she is ready for company. Depending on who else wants to join, we may have to develop a strategic plan, and we may have to get a motel room or two, but when Carolyn is ready, we will be ready. Just know that everyone is welcome to join.
That might be something for me to think about.I am not to far from Carolyn. Will see what happen when the time come.
Yes, she is not ready for company yet. I asked her where the 3 of you were going to sleep. Bob and I were visiting once and Patty came. She slept on a blow up in Carolyn's sewing room. I plan to fly in sometime when she feels better and my shoulder is done and rehab is over. In the meantime we visit by phone.
It's been awhile, folks. The last three months have found us selling our house, moving (**twice!**) and only now starting to slow down. The house sold in 24 hours at considerably over the asking price and a 30 day closing. For two old timers, that was a lot happening at one time. DH managed to fall in the garage as we were sorting things. He somehow managed to wedge all 6' of him into a small space between the golf cart and the garage wall. I had to call the fire department to pick him up but thankfully, nothing was broken except his pride.
We moved to Country Club of La Cholla in Tucson, a very nice retirement complex with both independent and assisted living apartments. We wanted a 2 BR/2 bath, downstairs apartment but because the house sold so quickly we moved into an interim apartment. Two months after, the one we wanted became available and they moved us into it. So we are finally settled in and enjoying life without cooking, taxes, HOA, utilities, etc. Life is good but any sewing I do will be on the dining room table.
Tried to catch up on all the Forum news (an impossible task). Sending hugs and prayers to all and hoping each of you are enjoying or looking forward to enjoying good health and a much better 2021.
Oh gosh yes. I hope they can stretch it out a bit.
I’d sure off but wouldn’t be much help ;0(
I’m so happy it got there. I sure love the one the gals made me! I use it all of the time and it make me feel so happy and peaceful.
much love and continued prayers.
Wow Yetta I can’t even think of moving twice! I’m glad you like your new place though!
no cooking? Yay yay
So we are finally settled in and enjoying life without cooking, .....
So, is there a communal dining room that y'all partake of a meal that is provided? Can you cook at all in your place, like if you get hungry or thirsty?
I have a complete kitchen---stove (1. now a planter box), refrigerator (2. we use **lots** of ice), dishwasher (3. but not sure why), and a garbage disposal (4. see 3). We have chef-prepared meals 3x daily with a wide choice of selections. In addition, there's a deli where you can pick up soups, salads, sandwiches, drinkls and fruit at odd hours of the day. Daily meals, weekly maid service and laundry, activities, entertainment and transportation are all included. Did I mention Wine Wednesdays and Happy Hour Fridays? In three months, I've "cooked" a pizza in the oven and baked a loaf of bread. Somehow, I'm not missing the cooking much!
Sounds like you have been sooo busy and finally got a break and can now just relax and enjoy. I am on the other end of the same journey. We sold our daughters college house we got 5 years ago. It sold in 3 days but the closing was not smooth but is now done and we got full price. Now we are fixing up or permanant home and gonna see if we can sell it for asking price. If not we will just keep it. I have spent my summer making trips to New Mexico and prepping walls, painting, packing stuff and arranging for people to come and fix things like the carpet going into two rooms next week and a fireplace repair and painting of the fireplace.
I managed to finish packing the kitchen yesterday............quit a feat. Now to deep clean and prep for painting.
Today I filled the back of my large SUV with stuff and headed to the thrift store..........what a good feeling to get rid of so much stuff. I need to get rid of more and will do so as I pack more stuff. The big gorilla is the 3 car garage that is packed with things that are mostly DH's like riding mower, motorcycles, a ton of outdoor stuff and tools. Gonna do my best this coming week to get some of the the things on shelves packed.
I just wish we were done so I could enjoy some of summer before it is gone. Any sewing is on hold for the next 4 weeks.
