Whew. I can finally sit down and rest a bit.
Since April, DD#3 and her Golden Retriever have been at our house. She had purchased her wedding dress in a nearby (to us in California) city and had planned on flying back to visit for her alterations, of which we hoped there wouldn't be too many. Well, because she thoroughly destroyed her ankle on New Years Day, which required surgery and me staying in Colorado with her for the month of January, she was unable to be mobile for quite a while.
Thankfully, the bridal shop was very accommodating and compressed *all* of the fittings into April ... at which point, she decided it would be more appropriate for her to simply stay with us from April through the wedding in May ... along with the dog. Fortunately, by April, she was cleared to put weight on the foot and continued her PT so that by her wedding on 5/20, she was walking "normally" albeit with a noticeable limp. That will get better.
BUT .. omg ... she is a HORRIBLE houseguest. She strews her belongings **all over**. It drives me crazy. I'm not Martha Stewart, but even *I* don't have clothing seven layers deep like the city of Troy. And then she gets upset when she can't find things. Sheesh.
The dog, Freya, LOVED being here. We have almost an acre of flat land around the house, which is fully fenced except for the driveway. We put a gate across that, so Freya could have full run of the yard without getting out of the yard. Lordy, she had the BEST time. We left the sliding glass door to outside open a sliver so that she could have in/out priviledges without us needing to be doormen. (We considered getting one of those doggy door inserts for sliders to reduce the bugs in the house, but ultimately decided against the expense).
The wedding was in Napa, California on Mr. Pirate's family property. It was truly lovely. I don't have any photos now, as Rene has only gotten select previews. I do have a photo of the father/daughter dance. Freya, the dog, gets perturbed when Rene (or Max, the husband) hug for "too long". Freya noses her way into the hug ... and so it was with the first dance ... :-)
You can't see Rene's dress, as she was wearing a long coat (chilly outdoor weather). Side note: that long white coat was *mine* from my Junior Prom (1969-ish).
But now, we've delivered her and Freya to the airport and we are back to ourselves. Wow ... the house looks like a bomb went off in it. Although we truly enjoyed having her, Freya and our other two daughters (and one husband and one boyfriend!) here prior to the wedding, it is really NICE to have the house back to ourselves!

Wow sounds like alot going on. Weddings have a million details and are a lot of work. Freya the dog looks like she had a blast at the wedding. I love that your daughter got to wear your fancy coat from your school days. Congratulations on getting another one married off and after you recover hopefully you can get your house back to normal.

I'm sure the wedding was lovely and equally sure that you and Mr. Pirate are enjoying a little well deserved peace and quiet. Company/family is wonderful, but oh how nice when you have things back to your own piece of paradise!

Your daughter is beautiful! So glad the wedding turned out well, and especially glad that you are able to take a breath now, and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Sounds like R's day was surely wonderful!! I'm sorry I haven't been able to check in with you more but I so look forward to seeing pictures of the bride and groom and, of course, of you and Mr. P too! Oh, and of the 3 girls together!!!

Hi all,
I've had to be away for a time again. I had to make another Mom urgent medical trip to CA in May. Then had to return home as DH was scheduled for surgery. In April he got the cold I had and, as often does, he ended up with bronchitis. The Dr was concerned it was heading to pneumonia so ordered a chest x-ray which not only showed a start of pneumonia but a strange mass between the underside of his sternum and the sack surrounding his lungs. When it was determined it to be in too awkward a place for a needle biopsy to successfully get to the Surgeon said she was going to use a DaVinci robot to retrieve it. That was the only part that DH was excited about! He's still recovering a bit but he got the pathology report and it was, in fact, a Lipoma (fatty mass) and no signs of any cancer cells were present. Yay!
Now I'm back in a mode of trying to help my sister and mom from afar with arrangements for home care and other needs. It's downright hard to keep up. I haven't sewn really since the retreat and sometimes I go sit in my make shift sewing area and all I can seem to do is sit there. I was thinking I do some simple sewing but I realized I need my scraps bin but I don't know where they are packed! But my new sewing room is coming to life from the 2D drawings we've been looking at for so long and that's fun to think about. Once I get to put stuff in that room I'll get my groove back... I hope!! I'd better!!

My goodness--you have had quite a time of it lately! I'm so glad your DH's issues were not all that bad, but I'm sure scary for a while. I hope everything gets all settled and you can get all cozy and creative in your sewing room.

I'm so glad to hear you're ok. Hadn't seen any updates in a while. Sorry you've had so much to do...hope your husband and mom are feeling better soon! (((HUGS)))
