What Are You Working On Now?   General Discussion

Started 11/19/17 by MarciainMD; 935128 views.

We just got back from a quick 4 days in New Mexico. I took my 3D hexi quilt and finished the applique in the truck. Time to get my next handwork project prepped.

I don't generally decorate for the seasons, but decided I wanted a fall wreath for my back door--and do a bit of stash busting.  This took an awful lot of 2.5 inch strips but I don't even notice anything missing in my stash.

That's a handsome wreath, Lynne.  Too bad it didn't reduce your stash.

Guess you will have to make some more.  stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye

Thank you, but that will be it.  I got pretty tired of tying knots.

Yeah, it looks like there are dozens and dozens and dozens and dozens of pieces of fabric in that wreath. The final product is very handsome, though.

What a beautiful autumn wreath!  Looks like a fluffy bouquet of gorgeous leaves.

I did one of those in Christmas colours, but this one is so perfect for the season!

Being many years since I made mine, I've forgotten how long the strips are that are tied onto the base.  Thinking maybe they were 6", and wonder if that's correct.  I know how tiresome the process is, but yours is especially pretty. ok_hand

What a cool project to use scraps. If you do not notice a reduction in the scrap bin means you have a big  bin. I am guilty as well......I have 3 large bins and recently participated in Joy's scrapbuster mystery.....same story, scrap bins still overflowing.

This is the next Forever Project™ that I'm working on.  I had been sporadically working on this since this past April.   It's called "Hollow Cube" and is a 3D illusion block.  When you look at it, you are supposed to see hollow cubes and cubes with blocks or steps inside them.   I love optical illusion drawings and quilts. :-)

This one is also English Paper Pieced, so I can work on it when I am away from home.  I've already prepped a whole BUNCH of blocks; their component pieces are neatly held in a a small snack size ziploc.

In the photo below, the hexagon blocks are pinned to my design wall.  They are in no particularly order and will be moved around as the whim takes me.  I've drawn arrows to and identified the various blocks.  The final size of the hexagon is 3.5".  I have no idea how big it's going to be, as it certainly is an open-ended project. :-)

I'm not particularly thrilled with the plain 3D block.  It looks *too* plain when compared to the others.  I'll probably end up taking it out.

Hey as long as you are having fun it is all good! They are really cool and the finished quilt will be awesome. I finished appliquing my blocks to the background on our way back from New Mexico on Sunday so ready for quilting.
