I have seen those where they cut open the side all the way up the body and down the sleeves and then you can lay it flat. You could also add a rib knit to the sleeves instead of cuffs.

When I lived in Tucson I made several of them sweatshirt crazy patch and sold them to the nurses at the hospital that I was working in it's not very hard the only thing is you just have to take the whole sweatshirt apart and then do your patches and stuff

When you open up the sleeves you can cut it down so that it's not so big and baggy

oh that's a clever idea and much simpler than sewing a jacket from a pattern! Using a sweatshirt as the base would certainly give it the drape and softness you want.

I wish I knew how to estimate how much they will shrink during the sewing process. I have a big orange one I bought to wear as a Halloween costume when pregnant with my son (his birthday is Nov 3rd, so you get the idea how big I was). I stuck on a black felt jack o lantern face & went as the Great Pumpkin.

I finished the double wedding quilt yesterday with the final touch the label. I also created a care instruction sheet for it. The last thing to do is the photoshoot.
So I pulled out another UFO top a simple blue and green. I am planning some fun quilting lots of big circles with different motifs quilted in each. I designed a giant dragonfly with a 24" wingspan and am placing it in 3 places. I am still marking these elements with school chalk on the top and trying to decide on thread colors. This will not be a quick project but rather a fun creative process as I love quilting best of the entire quilt creation. I have photos on my Instagram as Delphi is not allowing me to upload my photos.

Ami: Have you tried just copying and pasting a photo in the body of your post? That has been working for me lately. Almost always I use JPEG images, and I don't need to upload them or anything - just copy the image and paste it in here. Worth a try! Your plan for quilting the "new" UFO sounds great; can't wait to see pictures.

Is that the DWR that you were working on at the Retreat? The colors of that one were so spectacular. It must feel good to get another project finished. :-)
I'm looking forward to seeing the in-progress or final pictures when you're done with your circles & dragonfly quilting project! You always come up with such innovative ideas. :-)
