You'll likely <g> get to see it "up close and personal" at Foothills whenever I finish it.  The irridescent fabric needs to be seen in person to truly appreciate it.

While I work on the final steps of my original clamshell project (where I realized that I was assembling the clamshells **all wrong**), I am also organizing and minimally prepping for my next EPP project, Tula Pink's "Alchemy".

Alchemy is a row by row that kinda/sorta blends/coordinates the colors as you go down the quilt.  I had a bunch of left over fabric from Inner Cube, which was the impetus for my doing Alchemy.  I also realized that my Tula Pink leftovers probably would NOT be enough, so as nearly as I was able to, I substituted fabric from my stash.  No, the substituted fabric is NOT Tula Pink but I believe the final project will still have the same look-and-feel of the original.  And if it doesn't ... who's gonna compare?  :-)

I thought for quite a while on how organizing Alchemy for ease of working on it.  What I have finalized on is a letter/legal storage box that holds hanging folders.  Each hanging folder will contain the instructions, diagrams & fabric for each row plus one more hanging folder for "general" stuff.

This picture is of the storage box that contains the entire project.  The hanging folders are just the standard ones that are used in office files.  They keep each row separated and I can pull just one to work on, without disturbing the rest.

This is the contents of the bag for Row 1.  At this time, I've already pulled all the non-Tula Pink fabrics.  I've cut all the fabrics necessary for this row into the appropriate sized squares ... in this case, the hexies are 3/4", so my squares are 2" square.  I have the instructions on how many hexies of each fabric to make, a small box of hexie templates.   each little pile of cut fabric squares is tacked together and labeled.

If I want to work on this row while on the go, all I need to do is add one of my small to-go sewing kits (thread, needles, pins, scissors).   I have a to-go sewing kit sitting on the side of my sewing table .. easy to grab.   Prepped hexies are dropped back into the ziploc baggie.  When all the hexies have been prepped, then I will use the included diagram to assemble them into the required units.  The finished units will also get dropped back into the baggie until needed.

The other rows have similar ziploc baggies with their specific supplies.   I'm rather pleased with this organization ... it makes sense to me.  When Alchemy is done, the storage box can be re-purposed for another project or storage.  :-)

And she is off and running on another forever project....that she will likely complete in the next 123 days.

my replacement table topper is pieced and ready to quilt.  (Pattern is whirl Wind by J. Michelle Watts). I think I'm just going to do an all over freemotion feather meander, but I need to practice first.  So it will sit on the table for a while.  And no I haven't found the lost quilt yet (DH thought as soon as I made a replacement I would find it - no such luck).  The lighter pattern has a little bit of silver in it, I like how it picks up the light from the afternoon sun and shimmers a bit as I walk past.

Geez, Louise.  That's only 4 months!

Love your round topper. Too bad the original is still MIA. Hopefully it will turn up soon.
