I can't speak from experience because I haven't used Mageia since version 4, but it's nice to see the reviews are still largely favorable. If my work wasn't so RHEL/Centos-centric I'd have it back on both my machines in a heartbeat.
I didn't care for KDE's Plasma. Installed it as an update, fell-back to 5; later, clean install with I fell-back as well. Plasma had way too much whitespace (likely for touch screen & mobiles); lost Desktop, Menu, & Taskbar features of 5. I accuse KDE of being half-ready.
