Yeah I was wondering that as well. I don't ride much at night due to critters but if I do, I'd like to have as much light as possible. My new SUV leaves the lows on when highs are on but the fogs go out. The fogs have a nice close and wide beam so you can see on the sides of the road - which I like. I guess I'll leave it be for now.

Is that setup in that link you posted plug and play? I think my 2001 1100 custom is 5 inch? I was also thinking to just use a h4 led bulb and leave the factory glass housing.

Yup...it is for the 7" Classic headlight. Not so much for the Custom.....tons of modifications to make them work.

Thanks for the info. I think this would work with the factory setup? https://www.ebay.com/itm/DOT-5-3-4-5-75-LED-Headlight-Lamp-for-Harley-Yamaha-V-Star-XVS-650-950-1100-/302940539129

It says it will.....never tried one. If it doesn't, just send it back.

Could you please post up if it (1) fits and (2) works as per design?
I'm interested, but the advert says that they won't ship to US Territories, so I'd have to go through quite a bit of drama to return if it doesn't fit/work as advertised.
TIA,
Michael

I don't think you should have bent the clip I had mine out when going led and went right back in after.

Hey Mick,
Did Ian ever post the parts number for his LED mod ?
I bought one with the same bulk and I can't seem to be able to fit it in and can't adjust the direction either since it doesn't fit in the housing.
Thanks

I know he ground the cooling fins down quite a bit......enough to get it to fit.
