wKB. lots of great info
Thanx! I’ve read the page from the jetting part
A few months ago I’ve bought a dyno jet kit. The store where I’ve bought it told me I had to buy it because I also had bought a Hypercharger aircleaner. Eventually I’ve sold the hypercharger because it didn’t gave me what I’ve expected and I had backfiring all time. Even when I had adjust the pms, 2 days later, with a other kind of weather the backfiring was back. So I decided to put the stock air cleaner back on my bike and searching for another kind of air intake (now I have the pods).
In the dyno jet kit were also other kind of needles. Do you think I can better use these needles together with the pods, or should I put the stock needles back?
you may be able to use the needles in the jet kit. is it a "dynajet" or "dynojet"? if you do use the needles from the kit refer to this Table A : Pro Needles
while you did need to rejet upon adding the HC, if you have free flowing pipes, you did NOT need the kit. you can purchase the main jets separately and just add a couple of washers to the stock needles to increase the amount of fuel in the carbs.
If it was me, I'd get rid of the dynO stuff and go back to stock needles and Mikuni jets. The numbering system for the Dyno jets you have it totally different than the Mikuni jets Yamaha uses...... so you'll have to find a conversion chart to get correct ones. Tuning is also easier with the stock needles.
I would dump the jet kit and say with original needles and jets. There are hundreds that did the pods using original parts which means lots of data and help. Very little info about them jet kits other than very hard to dial in.
Allright, thanx guys.
It’s clear, I’ll get rid of the jet kit stuff and put back the stock needles.
How did you mount the pods to the rubber elbows on the carbs? In the pod set there is a small bag of glue, but there are also clamps included.
Sorry for asking so much, but you all have a lot of experience with the pods
Where did you get the Pods? I hope a reputable Vendor, in which case instructions should have been included.
I have bought it at sscustomcycle.com.
there is a instruction, but I wonder if there are more ways to install. Because I don’t prefer using glue
I had the Chubby kit and must have used the glue, I did mine back in 08 and never had a issue. Why not a pvc sleeve and clamps then? Remember Shane was the pioneer in developing Pods and knows what he is doing
Not sure if the same size filters will work but I did the thing with the bottom of the air box left in place (it's in the KB). I just slipped the filters over the boots and ran a couple of sheet metal screws in each. Easy on, Easy off
