Hi
i just bought a 2003 V Star 1100 and riding it I can smell oil. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this with their bike and is that a common thing for the shaft drives. Thx in advance.

Shaft drive has nothing to do with it. My guess is that your oil is overfull (should be no higher than the middle of the site glass and maybe a bit less). The overflow goes into the airbox...then starts dripping on the engine.

Thank you for the info. I’ll look at it tomorrow. I just got it Saturday and haven’t had much time with it. I appreciate the info.
take care.

check the valve covers 4 rectangle covers above the exhaust port .. common issue just remove and replace just take it to an auto supply store and match it up.. be careful on the retorque, its only 7 lb if I rememeber .. not much
